Frequently Asked Questions

Certification Courses:

How do I sign up for a Certification Course?

There is no sign up process, as the certification courses are free and open to all. To become certified, all you must do is pass the course's Certification Test.

How much does it cost to take the Certification Courses?

There is no cost! Our strongest desire is to ensure you have all the resources and tools necessary to be successful in the classroom, and that your students don't figure out how to use your ViewBoards before you do!

How many hours does each Certification Course take?

The myViewBoard Graduate Certification Course is designated as a 6 hour course, myViewBoard Educator is 8 hours, and myViewBoard Ambassador is 12 hours. While these are the times printed on your certificates, they do not reflect the ACTUAL amount of time the courses may or may not take.

I submitted my application for Ambassador, now what?

We periodically review and approve Ambassador applications. Note: If you've submitted an application during high times (summer, beginning of school year, or after winter break) then it may take us longer to review it.

Does ViewSonic log my hours into a Professional Development system?

No, ViewSonic does not keep records of how many hours of training you've completed. If you would like to use your certificate towards re-licensure, be sure to check with your district and state guidelines.

myViewBoard:

Why do some of the YouTube videos cover tools I don't have?

We make different myViewBoard versions for a variety of platforms (Windows, MacOS, Chrome OS, Android, etc). Because each platform has its own limits, your version may or may not have some of the tools showcased in the videos. Many of the videos have labels clarifying the system used (i.e. "Windows Only"), so be sure to check the titles.

I’m trying to use the Throw tool to show a video but I keep getting an error. What’s wrong?

Most likely your video is too big. The size limit for using videos via the Throw tool is 35MB.

I’m using the Pen tool to write on a website, but my screen keeps freezing. I'd also like to save my writing, but when I close the Pen tool, the writing goes away.

You're likely using the Pen tool in the Side Toolbars, which is designed to be solely a quick overlay writing tool. If you have access to myViewBoard for Windows, the Windows Toggle tool will allow you to both navigate websites while writing on them and screenshot and save any writing you've done. If you're using a Mac or Chromebook, we recommend adding an annotation tool extension to your Google Chrome.

The Palm Eraser gesture isn't working.

  • Are you casting? Most multi-touch gestures, like Palm Eraser, are lost when you are casting. Try directly connecting your device instead!

  • Are you on a Chrome operating system? Chrome OS does not support gestures like the palm eraser or the pointy side of the stylus.

  • Are you using another manufacturer's board, touch screen monitor, or device (ie iPad, Surface Pro, SMART Board, etc)? Some other manufacturers do not support gestures like the palm eraser or the pointy side of the stylus.

When I open myViewBoard, I don’t see some of the math tools.

While myViewBoard for iOS, MacOS, Android and ViewBoard OS have some math tools, they do not have the same math tools as myViewBoard for Windows. We are working on providing the same math tools to all our myViewBoard versions.

When I look for my Drive files, especially SMART Notebook/PowerPoint, in the Magic Box, I don't see them. What should I do?

  • If you're trying to access your files from the Magic Box and don't see your Drive, it is likely that either you're not signed in to your myViewBoard account, your cloud Drive is not bound to your myViewBoard account, or you haven't selected your Drive via the "Waffle" in the top right corner of the myViewBoard software. Note: If you've recently bound your Drive, but it's still not showing up, try signing out and signing back in to the myViewBoard app.

  • If you're accessing the Magic Box through the ViewBoard OS, you may need to convert your SMART Notebook/PowerPoint files on www.myviewboard.com first.

When I cast my Chromebook/iPad, I don't get any touch. Why?

iPads and Chromebooks don't have touch capability, even when using vCast Receiver. Side Note: For other devices, touch doesn't work when using Airplay or Display but will work when using vCast Receiver.

The myViewBoard software keeps signing me out. What should I do?

Check your Follow Me settings on myViewBoard.com. You can adjust your auto sign out time there.

Casting isn't working and Remote Control is unavailable. Why?

This is usually a network issue. Check your network settings and make sure you're connected to a network. If that doesn't work, reach out to your IT support team and let them know you're having network issues.

My ViewBoard randomly shuts off. What should I do?

In your ViewBoard Settings (Gear Icon), check that Energy Star is turned off and that your Power Settings aren't set to shut off after a certain period of inactivity.

While using the myViewBoard software, I lost my Windows taskbar. How do I get it back?

Check to see if you're in Presentation mode (via the floating toolbar), which hides the taskbar, and switch back to Preparation mode.

I plugged in my laptop but I don't have any touch. What should I do?

Make sure you've connected your touch cable and that it's plugged into the correct port.

When I use the stylus, the pen color changes and I am unable to use any other tool besides the pen. Why?

It's likely you're using the incorrect end of the stylus. The round end of the stylus is for the active tool, BUT the pointy end only activates the pen tool and will override any other selected tool, though you can change its size and color.

I opened up Whiteboard, but it looks nothing like yours. What happened?

You might be using myViewBoard Online, which looks different than the myViewBoard App.
